Absolwent Akademii Medycznej w Warszawie (1978 r.). Przez 7 lat był asystentem prof. T. Orłowskiego w Instytucie Transplantologii A.M. w Warszawie, a następnie podjął pracę w nowo utworzonej Klinice Medycyny Rodzinnej Centrum Medycznego Kształcenia Podyplomowego w Warszawie. Od 2013 r. jest kierownikiem tej jednostki, która stopniowo zmieniała profil medyczny i naukowy i została przekształcona w Klinikę Geriatrii, Chorób Wewnętrznych i Chorób Metabolicznych Kości CMKP. Posiada specjalizacje w dziedzinie chorób wewnętrznych, nefrologii i geriatrii. Jest autorem ponad 150 publikacji, w tym 39 rozdziałów w podręcznikach oraz ponad 130 doniesień na zjazdach i kongresach naukowych, w tym ponad 30 poza granicami Polski. Redaktor monografii „Wybrane zaburzenia metaboliczne u osób w podeszłym wieku” oraz współorganizator Podkarpackich Konferencji Naukowo-Szkoleniowych na temat „Osteoporoza – zdążyć przed złamaniem” – 2015 r. oraz „Podkarpackie Dni Geriatryczne” - 2017 r. w Rzeszowie. Prowadzi liczne wykłady dla lekarzy specjalizujących się w dziedzinie chorób wewnętrznych, geriatrii, ortopedii i traumatologii, rehabilitacji medycznej. Był kierownikiem Studium Medycyny Rodzinnej CMKP w latach 2003 – 2008, zastępcą dyrektora CMKP ds. klinicznych w latach 2008 – 2016, a także członkiem Warszawskiej Rady Polityki Zdrowotnej w latach 2012 – 2017. Pełnił funkcję Przewodniczącego Komisji Rewizyjnej Polskiego Towarzystwa Osteoartrologii w latach 1995-2015. Był członkiem komitetów redakcyjnych wydawnictw: „Postępy Osteoartrologii”, „Postępy Nauk Medycznych”, „Essentia Medica”. Brał udział w pracach zespołów ekspertów d/s programów specjalizacji w zakresie nefrologii oraz medycyny transportu. Jest członkiem państwowych komisji egzaminacyjnych w dziedzinie nefrologii, medycyny rodzinnej i chorób wewnętrznych.
